Casualties in Iraq

A survey by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press finds that only 28 percent of Americans know that U.S. fatalities in Iraq are approaching 4,000. "[N]early half thinks the death tally is 3,000 or fewer and 23 percent think it is higher," the Washington Post reports.

No word on the percentage of Americans who know how many Iraqis have died since George II sent in his invasion and occupation force. But, hey, who's counting?

Well someone is. The box at the top of the right column gives you some indication.

I'm wondering how many Iraqis have been killed by the Bush-Clinton regime (i.e., since the first gulf war, c. 1990). This would include the kids who were killed as a result of the sanctions (but remember, "we think the price was worth it"). Has anyone compiled this larger body count?
